Publication information

Editorial policy

The evidence we use, the limits of our research and the information required for a published offer.

Selection and scope

Our current guides address two decisions common to PC purchases: how to compare offers and how to establish compatibility. We use specifications to explain what to check, and cite manufacturer documentation for material technical claims. We do not claim to cover every product, retailer or offer.

We plan to earn affiliate commission. Commercial availability and commission opportunities can affect which offers are considered for coverage. An affiliate opportunity alone is not evidence that an offer is good value. Any price comparison must state its scope and relevant limitations.

Research and testing

The current guides use published documentation rather than physical product testing. A manufacturer’s compatibility list, manual or specification is evidence for the documented feature or requirement, not our own measurement of performance.

We identify model-specific examples, provide source links and avoid extending one model’s requirements to a whole category. Where the available information does not settle a compatibility question, we direct readers to the relevant manufacturer rather than give a blanket assurance.

We do not publish invented benchmarks, review scores or hands-on claims. Any future hands-on report would need to identify the hardware and test method and separate measured findings from specification-based research.

The publication rule for price checks

There are currently no verified live offers listed. Before an offer can be published, its record must establish:

  1. The manufacturer’s exact model or part number, variant and item condition.
  2. The retailer, actual seller where different, and a working destination for that product.
  3. The current price in GBP, VAT status, delivery cost or stated delivery limitation, and relevant offer conditions.
  4. The availability stated by the seller and any restrictions such as pre-order or collection only.
  5. The date, time and time zone of verification, displayed with the offer.

A comparison must use equivalent products and conditions. A saving claim needs its comparison basis and evidence; a retailer’s crossed-out price is not proof of a market-wide saving. We do not use unsupported “cheapest” or historical-low claims.

Prices are snapshots, not a live feed. If a listed offer is found to be expired, materially changed or no longer verifiable, the publication rule is to remove its promotion or clearly mark it unavailable. Readers should check the retailer’s final basket before ordering.

Advertising identification

Affiliate content and links must be labelled Ad before readers engage with them. If an article is an affiliate promotion throughout, its preview and article heading must carry the label. In mixed content, the relevant promotion and link must be labelled where they appear. A footer disclosure is not a substitute.

The affiliate disclosure explains commission in plain English. Manufacturer source links in the current guides are ordinary reference links.

Corrections and updates

Send errors to [email protected] with the page URL, the disputed information and a source where possible. The publisher uses this mailbox for editorial correspondence. Corrections require checking against the relevant source; we do not promise a fixed response or update interval.

Material corrections should identify what changed on the affected page. A publication or update date must reflect an actual editorial event, not an automatic date refresh. Minor spelling and layout changes do not imply a fresh price or specification check.
